The Mesilla Valley Economic Development Alliance is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization contracted by the City of Las Cruces and Doņa Ana County to provide economic development and marketing for the region.
MVEDA is ten years old and actively promotes the county as a location site to new industries. Primary existing potential industrial areas are located in Las Cruces, Santa Teresa, Sunland Park, Anthony, Hatch, Rincon and Chaparral.
Formed in 1994 as the result of the belief in a coordinated economic development effort for both the City of Las Cruces and Doņa Ana County, MVEDA was incorporated and began operations a year later. Since 1996, MVEDA has helped establish 45 new industries, resulting in 4,062 jobs throughout Doņa Ana County.
MVEDA has assisted in the location of new industries and the expansion of local industries. These businesses will add new jobs in Doņa Ana County and represents hundreds of millions Information and research.
Information and Research MVEDA maintains an extensive database housed within the MVEDA Data Center. The current and historical information is particularly useful for firms seeking to do business with, locate or expand in Las Cruces and Doņa Ana County. Major data areas:

Location Services Confidential business location assistance is a major service of MVEDA. This can include: (1) Arranging and conducting on-site land and building tours; (2) Arranging meetings with local officials or key business and industry leaders; (3) Providing confidential site analysis; and (4) Assisting as a troubleshooter on land and building issues with public entities prior to move-in.
MVEDA also functions as a liaison with local elected officials, city and county administrative departments, the New Mexico Economic Development Department, the New Mexico Department of Labor and other government agencies as needed.
After the location decision is made, MVEDA can provide a listing of Realtors® for company employees who will be moving to the area. The Realtors® may provide complete listings of housing available for rental, lease and purchase throughout the local commuting area. Housing tours also may be arranged for employees wishing to see the variety of residential options available in capital investment.
Continuing Technical Assistance MVEDA provides continuing assistance to promote the growth and success of new or existing companies. The organization also can assist with preliminary work on industrial revenue bonds through the City of Las Cruces or Doņa Ana County, assist preparations for state in-plant training applications, provide introductions to representatives of venture capital organizations and a variety of other business assistance and promotion sources within the state and region.
About MVEDA MVEDA has a 13-member board of directors. In addition to representatives from the city and county, the two other public sector partners are New Mexico State University and Doņa Ana Branch Community College.
The nine private sector representatives on the MVEDA board are from: Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce; Hispano Chamber of Commerce de Las Cruces; El Paso Electric; Public Service Company of New Mexico; Catalina Development Company; Santa Teresa Real Estate Development Corporation; MountainView Regional Medical Center; Las Cruces Machine, Manufacturing and Engineering; and Multi-Plastics of New Mexico.
MVEDA is partially funded by 60 private companies and individuals through annual contributions. Because of federal tax laws, MVEDA does not have members, but rather its financial supporters are designated as partners.
